Meet Taro Sakamoto… a revered and feared hitman known for being the best of the best. That is until he unexpectedly falls in love, retires from the hitman business, gets married, has a baby, opens a convenience store, and now… has a dad bod. But some of Sakamoto’s old buddies are not so pleased with his retirement like Shin, Sakamoto’s previous student who takes matters into his own hands and decides that it’s time for Sakamoto to come back to the business.

Well… that was the plan at least. This attempt doesn’t work out too well for Shin who promptly gets molly whopped by Sakamoto who still packs a punch. But, Sakamoto still cares for his old student and after saving him from a near death experience, things quickly escalate as Shin becomes the newest employee of Sakamoto’s convenience store.

Now our ridiculously awesome adventure has begun where Sakamoto and Shin recruit some quirky misfits to join them in this wild game of cat and mouse to defend Sakamoto’s retirement. Prepare yourself for some insane, hilarious, and epic moments of complete mayhem and chaos.

Pros:
Absolutely Hilarious

This absurdist manga series is absolutely, laugh-out-loud hilarious. From character interactions to chaotic fights… this story is a complete joyride. We’ve got life-or-death card games, cough drop attacks, a jacuzzi ambush, dino disguises… and that’s just in the first few volumes. Real talk – this is a popcorn manga. You’re not reading this story for the worldbuilding or character development. You’re reading this for the sheer joy of the experience.

Support Characters
Sakamoto Days only gets more ridiculous as we meet additional characters. Each one adds their own flavor of insanity to this unpredictable adventure. Some of my favorites include the impulsive and superstitious Osaragi, the carefree and playful Nagumo, and Takamura, an old man who really hates flies.

Creativity
Like I mentioned earlier, you never know what to expect from this series. The author incorporates some completely unpredictable moments like a fight on a rollercoaster, granny attacks, and fire sprinkler hide-and-seek. And because this manga leans heavily into complete absurdity, these wild moments work.

Overall…
If you’re looking for a manga series that is pure comedy and action through and through, this series is for you. Embrace the chaos and enjoy the ride.
